Donald L Sheetz

Donald L. Sheetz, 79, of Blandon, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 in HCR ManorCare, Laureldale. He was the loving husband of Christine N. (Suarez) Sheetz, whom he married on May 9, 1981. His first wife, Mary Esther (Kramer) Sheetz died on September 6, 1980.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Daniel S. and Pearl M. (Riegel) Sheetz. Mr. Sheetz was a member of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown, and was a graduate of Reading High School. Donald honorably and faithfully served his country in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, for 30 years, where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed as the Superintendant of Utilities by the Borough of Kutztown from 1965 to 1995. He also owned and operated Don Sheetz CDL Training Center, Blandon, for 12 years.

In addition to his wife of 34 years, Christine, he is survived by 2 Sons, Donald L. Sheetz, Jr., Kutztown, and Robert G., husband of Neysa N. (Suarez) Sheetz, Fogelsville; 3 Grandchildren, Joshua D., husband of Melanie A. (Kegerise) Sheetz, Justin D., husband of Jenna Z. (Zyroll) Sheetz and Carley M. Sheetz; and 2 Great Grandchildren, Adalynn Grace Sheetz and Leo David Sheetz.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, with Reverend Monsignor Walter T. Scheaffer as Celebrant. Inurnment, with military honors, will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Donald's memory to Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, PA  19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
