Donald F. “Barney” Bieber, 90, of Kutztown died Saturday, October 27, 2012 in Kutztown Manor, Inc., Kutztown. He was the husband of Lucille L. (Barto) Bieber. They were married June 1, 1946.

Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Harry E., and Mary L. (Reed) Bieber. Mr. Bieber was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he served as a former member of the church council and call committee. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II. Mr. Bieber was a 1939 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, where he received the Athlete of the Year Award. He was the co-owner and operator of Kutztown Bottling Works, Kutztown, for over 25 years, retiring in 1989. Barney was a member of the Kutztown Lions Club, where he was a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award recipient, and the Pennsylvania Lions Foundation, where he was a Lions of PA Fellowship recipient. He was also a life member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Berks Chapter, a life member of the Reading-Berks Basketball Old-Timers, Lyons and Kutztown Fire Companies, and Pike Township Sportsmens Association. Barney was a former adjutant of Hoch- Balthaser Post 480, American Legion, Kutztown, and former commissioner of the Kutztown Industrial Golf League, and Cougar Tail.

He is survived by his Wife, Lucille; Daughter, Audrey M. (Bieber), wife of Donald L. "Spike" Miller, Bowers; Son, Andrew D., husband of Cynthia I. (Jones) Bieber, Orlando, Florida; 3 Grandchildren, Thomas A., husband of Jennifer (Jessen) Miller, East Brunswick, NJ, Devin C. Bieber, Collin P. Bieber, both of Orlando, FL, and 2 Great Grandchildren, Kevin Miller and Brandon Miller. He was predeceased by a Sister, Eleanor (Bieber) Greenawalt, and a Brother, Elsworth H. Bieber.

Memorial Services are Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM in St. Johns Lutheran Church, 201 East Main Street, Kutztown, 19530. Inurnment with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton, in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. Family and friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 201 East Main Street, Kutztown, PA 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
