Dennis Harold Rauch

Dennis Harold Rauch, 72, of Huntingdon, PA, formerly of Topton, PA, died suddenly on Monday, January 2, 2017.

Born in Topton, Dennis was a son of Helen A. (Grise) Rauch of Huntingdon, and the late Harold Rauch. Dennis attended Northwestern Lehigh High School, New Tripoli. After leaving high school during his senior year, Dennis enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served our country in Vietnam. He was stationed on-board the "Mighty-O", the U.S.S. Oriskany, when the largest ship fire since World War II, broke out in 1966. Dennis was a self-employed electrician and truck driver for many years. He also worked at the former Caloric Corporation, Topton, for several years. Dennis was a competitive and avid trap shooter, having been a member of the senior league at Riggles Gap Sportsmen's Club, Altoona, where his trap shooting team won 1st Place in their district last year. He also enjoyed being a gunsmith. Dennis was a lifetime member of the NRA, Shenecoy Sportsmen's Club, Huntingdon, Huntingdon County Game, Fish & Forestry Association and Alexandria Sportsman's Club.

In addition to his Mother, Helen, Dennis is survived by a Daughter, Dawn M. (Rauch), wife of Michael D. Hufnagle, Lewisburg, Grandchildren, Abigail Lynn Hufnagle and Zebulon Cash Hufnagle, and his former Wife, Susan (Kincaid) Rauch, Mifflinburg. He was predeceased by his Father, and a Daughter, Ann M. Rauch in 2001.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Reverend Arthur L. Hahn officiating. Interment will follow in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Relatives and friends may call on Friday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:00 PM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Dennis's memory to Riggles Gap Sportmen's Club, 301 Riggles Gap Sportsmen Road, Altoona, PA 16601. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
