Mr. Dennis D. "Pappy" Siegfried

Dennis D. "Pappy" Siegfried, 75, of Kutztown (Maxatawny Township), passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2024 on his family farm, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Alice R. (Helbert) Siegfried, whom he married on October 27, 1979.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Dennis was a son of the late Donald G. Siegfried, who died September 15, 1965, and the late Eleanor K. (Miller) Siegfried, who died July 29, 2023. Dennis was a 1967 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Dennis was a member of the Future Farmers of America, where he enjoyed showing holsteins and pigs. He even researched the best techniques for award winning animals which was an advantage that paid off for him.

Dennis was a lifelong dedicated farmer, who took great pride in cultivating his land for the annual crop. He was always excited to share his love of farming with his family He would often give them rides on his International tractor while harvesting his corn. He was a member of New Jerusalem Zion United Church of Christ, Greenwich Township, where he served as a Deacon. Dennis had a love for Lancaster County, PA. He enjoyed going to their farmers' markets, furniture stores, and restaurants. He also was an avid quilt collector. Dennis was very proud of his Pennsylvania Dutch heritage and was fond of hex signs of all kinds. Even though Dennis was a very simple person, he enjoyed life and was very proud of his family, which he loved spending time with, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter Eleanor, who was named after his mother.

Along with his wife of 45 years, Alice, Dennis is survived by his daughter, Alicia R. (Siegfried), wife of Christopher Ernst, Blandon; three granddaughters, Kayla Marie Ernst, Kameryn Rose Ernst, Katelynn Emily Ernst; grandson, Noah Christopher Ernst; and a great-granddaughter, Eleanor Marie Ernst; and along with his parents, was predeceased by his brother, Larry I. Siegfried on April 5, 2024

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Dennis will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA, with The Reverend Scott M. Sanders, officiating. Interment will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown (Grimville). Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
