February 15, 1955 — May 14, 2024

Debra A. (Kern) Jarrett, 69, of Mertztown, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. She was the loving wife of Richard W. Jarrett. They would have celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary on August 24, 2024.

Born in Allentown, Debra was a daughter of the late Clayton E. Kern and Roxie M. (Keiser) Kern. She was a 1973 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, where she was also enrolled in the printing program at Vo-Tech in Oley. During her time at Brandywine Heights, Deb was a member of the girls’ varsity basketball team when she was awarded the most valuable player (MVP) award in her junior year. She also was a member of the field hockey team and was a pitcher for the softball team.

Debbie started her career as a baker at Radcliffe’s IGA in 1974. She then worked as a baker at Giant in Trexlertown and was later transferred to the Kutztown store, retiring in 2020 as the Bakery Manager.

Deb was a member of the Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton and the Mertztown Rod and Gun Club. Family was everything to her. She adored her grandson, Patrick, and he adored her in return. She was his “Nanny”. Deb enjoyed many trips with her family and friends to Las Vegas, Ocean City, MD, going on cruises, and gambling at the local casinos. She always had a big smile on her face when she won! Deb especially looked forward to her yearly trips to Watkins Glen to the races with the “gang” and husband Rick.

In addition to her husband Rick, Deb is survived by her daughter, Linsey Jarrett and grandson, Patrick Smalley Jarrett who she loved with all of her heart. She is also survived by her siblings, Barry C., husband of Marguerite (Haurus) Kern, Blandon, Roxann M. (Kern), wife of Richard L. Jarrett, Mertztown, Kim R.
