Deborah Louise "Debbie" Schoch, 71, of Mertztown, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025 under the care of Lehigh Valley Hospice at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown. Born in Allentown, Debbie was a daughter of Marguerite M. "Peggy" (Hilt) Schoch of Mertztown, and the late Kermit C. Schoch who died on March 17, 2001.

Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, and a graduate of Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville, where she received her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Deborah's life was a testament to compassion, dedication, and love, particularly in her role as a Licensed Practical Nurse, where she touched countless lives with her unwavering commitment to healthcare. Debbie was employed as a LPN for 45 years, last working for the Fleetwood Area School District until her retirement in 2020. Debbie also worked at The Lutheran Home at Topton, Allentown General Hospital, Trexlertown Medical Center, John J. Robertson, M.D. in Kutztown, Topton Family Practice and Maulfair Medical Center both in Topton. She provided care and comfort to patients with grace and empathy. While her career was an essential part of her life, her greatest joy came from her family.

Debbie was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mertztown, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Debbie was an avid reader and loved to watch television, especially game shows. She had a special love for animals including her dog and best friend, Piper.

In addition to her mother Peggy, Debbie is survived by her sister, Jennifer A. Schoch, Mertztown; brother, Keith A. Schoch, and his wife Denise, Holly Springs, NC; two nephews, Kyle Schoch, and his wife, Kaitlyn Bartley, and Josh Schoch, and his wife, Rachel Bartleson; and a great-niece, Rylee Jane Schoch; and along with her father Kermit, was predeceased by her Godparents, Thomas and Alice Hilt; and her faithful companion Hunter.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Debbie's life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown, PA with her Pastor, The Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman officiating. Burial will follow in Topton Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. in the church.
