David John Reimer

David John “DJ” Reimer, Jr., 22, of Kutztown, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 19, 2015 as a result of an automobile accident.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of David J. Reimer, Sr., husband of Christina J. Steffy, Leesport and Gloria J. (Weller), wife of Randy L. Lewis, with whom he resided. DJ was a 2011 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and a current student at ITT Technical Institute where he was studying drafting and design technology. He was employed in the quality control department, working second shift at East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyon Station, for three years. Prior to that, he was employed at Burger King, first working as a cashier at the Kutztown branch, and later working as a manager in Leesport.

DJ was a member of Kutztown Fire Company No. 1, where he was a member of the truck crew. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 839, Kutztown, Kutztown Rod and Gun Club and a former member of Boy Scout Troop #101, Kutztown. DJ had a love for hot air ballooning, especially Steve Esser's tulip balloon and was a diehard #48 Jimmie Johnson and NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed hiking, barbecuing, taking road trips and rides to Sheetz. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and his dear cat, Grady, which he enjoyed spending so much time with.

He is survived by Father and Stepmother, David, Sr. and Christina; Mother and Stepfather, Gloria and Randy; Sister, Marcella A. Reimer, fiancé of Ross R. Hennick, Minersville, Half-Brothers, Charles A. Weidenhammer, Jr., Kutztown and Matthew D. Weidenhammer, Shoemakersville; Step-Sister, Nicole A. Lewis, Takoma, WA; Step-Brothers, Nathan A., husband of Danielle Lewis, Kutztown, and Casey A., husband of Kyra Lewis, Anchorage, AK; Maternal Grandmother, Rita V. (Pienta) Hobbs, Porter, TX; Maternal Grandfather, Lloyd V. Weller, Boyertown; Paternal Grandparents, Gary L. and Bonnie (Hughes) May, Gettysburg; Paternal Step-Grandparents, Prent L. and Deborah J. (Gechter) Steffy, Leesport. DJ was also a proud uncle and godfather to several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a Paternal Grandfather, Donald J. Reimer in 1994, a Step-Brother, Chad A. Lewis in 2014 and an Uncle, Stephen E. Reimer in 1999.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, September 29, 2015 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 PM Inurnment will be private.
