David G Moyer

David G. Moyer, Sr., 79, of Bowers, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, Bern Township. He was the husband of Ellen M. (Schultz) Moyer, whom he married July 11, 1957 .

Born in Maxatawny Township , he was a son of the late Howard D. and Grace C. (Drey) Moyer. He was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers. Mr. Moyer was a 1953 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. He was a United States Navy veteran. Mr. Moyer was employed as the head custodian and head of maintenance by Kutztown Area School District, primarily working in the Junior High School, for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He also drove school bus and got the school's band to many functions for 16 years. David was a member of Huguenot Lodge No. 377 F.& A.M., Kutztown, and a member and past patron of Order of the Eastern Star, East Penn Chapter #336, Kutztown. He enjoyed trains; was a trombone player with the Happy Dutchman German Band, Kutztown, which he was the founder and leader for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Reading Philharmonic Band .

He is survived by Son, David G. Jr., husband of Peggy L. (Phillips) Moyer, Fleetwood; Daughters, Sandra L. Moyer, companion of Charles R. Bright, Reading, Tamera J. (Moyer), wife of Sean M. Crouthamel, Painted Post, NY; Sister, Judith Moyer, Kutztown; Brother, Larry Moyer, Annapolis, MD. There are also 6 Grandchildren, Eric A. and Adam S., and Ryan L. Cronrath, Kyle D. Hoch, Malorie E. Moyer and Wyatt D. Moyer; 5 Great Grandchildren, Douglas A. Cronrath, Jocelyn D. Hoch, Sophia Hoch, Caiden A. Crouthamel and Lillyanna Mintzer.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Services and inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family .
