David A. Tranquillo, 81, of Maidencreek Township, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 in his residence. He was the companion of Maryann Reiter.

Born in Robesonia, he was a son of the late Emidio and Mary (Barbini) Tranquillo. He was a member of St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. Mr. Tranquillo honorably and faithfully served his Country as a career enlisted officer of the United State Navy. He saw combat in both the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam War. He retired from the US Navy after 22 years of service. After his retirement, he worked as a machinist for the Campbells Soup Company, Evansville for over 20 years, retiring in 1992. Dave was an avid bowler in his later years, spending much of his time with friends at Berks Lanes. David was very active in the local and national political scene and was a frequent caller, recognized by voice to WEEUs Feedback show. A proud and supportive "Pop-Pop" to all the grandchildren, he enjoyed attending all of their various functions. He equally loved and supported Maryanns children, Bobby, Tony and Johnny, along with their families. He was affectionately referred to as "Pop-Pop" by Maryanns grandchildren as well.

He is survived by Maryann; Sons, David V., husband of Ann (Gabrielli) Tranquillo, Blandon, Michael D., husband of Stephanie (Votoras) Tranquillo, Wernersville, Joseph M., husband of Cathy (Zerbe) Tranquillo, Wernersville, and Robert A. Tranquillo, Robesonia, PA. There are also 6 Grandchildren, Gina (Tranquillo) wife of Jason Shade, Jonathan, husband of Regina (Nigrelli) Tranquillo, Adam, Nicole, Michael Jr., and Jevin Tranquillo; a Great Grandson, Antonio Tranquillo; and a Sister, Leah (Tranquillo) wife of Falco DiBiase, West Lawn. Additionally, former spouse, Madeline L. (Schell) Tranquillo, Leesport, is also surviving. David was predeceased by Brothers, Raymond, Anthony, Quindo and Joseph Tranquillo and a Sister, Rosie (Tranquillo) Moyer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM from Saint Marys Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Gethsemene Cemetery, Laureldale. Friends may call Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church.
