Mr. David A. Snyder

March 20, 1964 — January 17, 2021

David A. Snyder, Sr., 56, of Longswamp Township, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 17, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where he was a patient for five weeks. He was the loving husband of Nancy J. (Hemphill) Snyder, whom he married on August 13, 1988.

Born in Altoona, PA, David was a son of George and Gabriella (Tornatore) Snyder of Allentown and was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School. Upon graduation, David honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Army. A contractor by trade, David was the owner and operator of D.A. Snyder Interior Specialist LLC, Alburtis for 31 years, last working in December. His business had an A+ rating and accreditation through the Better Business Bureau. He was a member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown and the Alburtis Rod and Gun Club, as well as a lifetime member of the NRA.

David was a die-hard wrestling and football fan who could often be found rooting for Penn State and the Minnesota Vikings. Because of his love for these sports, David devoted himself to the coaching and teaching of them. He served as a football and wrestling coach for Allentown Central Catholic High School and football coach for the Allentown Catholic Youth Organization. David also liked baseball and was a NY Mets fan. Above all, David enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends, whether it was while attending and supporting his own children’s events, entertaining, making clams for a clambake, or watching sports games and matches.

He made a tremendous impact on everyone who he met, coached, and mentored thoughout the years. His outgoing personality, humor, and love for making other’s laugh will be sorely missed but will be carried on in the lives of those who knew him.

In addition to his wife of 32 years, Nancy, and his parents, David is survived by his son, David A. Snyder, Jr., and wife, Amber L. (Pitten), of Allentown, daughter, Cindy M. Snyder, and boyfriend, Sam T. Kresky, Boise, ID; sister, Rose Marie Snyder, Whitehall; brothers, Joseph Snyder and wife Lisa, East Stoudsburg, and Stephen Snyder, Blandon; and father-in-law, Thomas S. Hemphill, widower of predeceased mother-in-law, Elizabeth E. “Betty” (Gouldner) Hemphill.

A public viewing for David will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA.
