Darwin J. Haas

Darwin J. Haas, Jr., 43, of Lenhartsville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 14, 2024. Born in Reading, Darwin was a son of Nadine R. (Heiter) King, wife of Jay H. King, Jr., of Kempton, and the late Darwin J. Haas, Sr. He was a 1999 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and the BCTC Horticulture Program.

Beginning at a very young age, Darwin had a love for mowing grass. He looked forward every Spring to start mowing and landscaping. He was a perfectionist and loved his work. For the past three years, Darwin was the owner and operator of Darwin's Landscaping, Lenhartsville. For several years prior to that, he worked as a groundskeeper at Muhlenberg College, Allentown. He truly loved the great outdoors.

Darwin was a faithful member of Salem Church, Lenhartsville, where he was actively involved with their men's group. He was also a member of Kempton Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed getting together with his family and friends. Darwin will be remembered for his easy-going personality, a person who could get along with anyone he met. He was kind-hearted, cared about people and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Along with his mother Nadine, and step-father, Jay, Darwin is survived by his brother, Benjamin L. Haas, Kempton; maternal grandmother, Carole A. (Zettlemoyer) Heiter, Lenhartsville; several step-siblings, and his large extended family, aunts, uncles and many cousins, who will miss him greatly.

Darwin was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Russell L. Heiter (2018); and paternal grandparents, Woodrow H. Haas (2006), and Alberta F. (Fenstermacher) Haas (2016).

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Darwin's life will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in Salem Church, 2150 Old Route 22, Lenhartsville, PA, with Pastor Dave Long officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will be held privately in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Kutztown, alongside his grandparents.
