Dale F Hamm

Dale F. Hamm. Sr., 72, of Mertztown, died Friday, January 17, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Laraine R. (Hilbert) Hamm. They were married 50 years last September.

Known to his family and friends as "Killer," he was employed as a laborer by Solts Sawmill, Mertztown, for 15 years, retiring in 2008. Prior to that, he worked in the shipping department at the former Caloric Corporation, Topton for 22 years. Mr. Hamm was a former member of the Topton and Lynnport Fire Companies. Dale enjoyed gardening, bowling, dirt track racing, and spending time with his grandchildren and watching their sporting events.

He is survived by Wife; Sons, Dale F., Jr., husband of Dawn L. (Kehl) Hamm, Kutztown, Todd C., husband of Deb N. (Wert) Hamm, Reading; Sisters, Faye (Hamm), widow of Clark Billig, New Tripoli, Diane (Hamm), wife of Neil Mengel, Mount Joy, Lancaster County; Brother-in-laws, Harold Handwerk, Kempton, widower of predeceased Sister, Linda (Hamm) Handwerk and Dennis C., Sr., husband of Sandra Hilbert, Mertztown; and several nieces and nephews. There are also 4 Grandchildren, Alexa C., Natalie L, Colin J., and Trenton T. Hamm.

Funeral Services are Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
