Clifford R. Kindred, 96, of Kempton, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Born in Allentown, Clifford was a son of the late Clifford E. Kindred and Iva I. (Dreisbach) Kindred-Tice.
Cliff was a High School English Teacher for 17 years in Penn Ridge School Distrct and Upper Perkiomen School District. Then, he owned and operated a Dairy Farm in Lynnport, Lehigh County, then became a trust officer with First National Bank of Allentown; and finally, in his 70's became a professional truck driver, driving tractor trailers for 11 years, among other jobs, businesses and professions too numerous to mention.
Clifford was a graduate of Allentown High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree in English from Muhlenberg College, Allentown; and his Master's Degree from Lehigh University, Bethlehem.
Cliff is survived by two sons: James R., husband of Pamela C. (Gordon) Kindred, Kempton; Bruce E., husband of Lisa F. (Anderson) Kindred, Mertztown; and a daughter, Rebecca J. (Kindred) Follweiler, companion of William R. McJunkin, Cody, WY. Cliff's long-time companion, Barbara Heist, Powder Valley, also survives. Other survivors include: Grandchildren: Leah M. (Follweiler), wife of Matthew Shute; Jared S., husband of Amy M. (Martinez) Follweiler; Micah J. Follweiler; Rebecca J. Kindred; Leah L. (Kindred), wife of Andrew L. Branton; Beth E (Kindred), wife of Michael Adams; Tess A. Kindred; and Great Grandchildren: Anisten D. Shute; Avery E. Shute; Cade K. Adams; Leon P. Branton; Madelyn M. Follweiler; Tylan J. Follweiler; and Jaxson C. Follweiler. Clifford was predeceased by a grandson Cade A. Kindred and a sister Doris L. Kindred.
A Funeral service to honor and celebrate Clifford's life will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. from Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Robert F. Klersy, officiating. Interment in Highland Memorial Park, Allentown. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made in Cliff's memory to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
