Claire Mae “Nana” (Newcomer) Pummer, 81, of Topton, formerly of Macungie, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in her residence, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of William J. Pummer, Sr., whom she married on November 20, 1954.

Born in Slatington, Claire Mae was a daughter of the late Samuel and Claire Mae (Owens) Newcomer. She was a member of Morningstar Fellowship Church, Bechtelsville, and a former member of Calvary Temple, Allentown, where she was active in their prayer groups. She was a 1953 graduate of William Allen High School, Allentown. Claire Mae was employed as a server at The Brass Rail Restaurant, Allentown, for almost 20 years. Prior to that, she worked in the mailroom at General Electric, Allentown, for five years. Claire Mae enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and feeding the birds. She was a very family oriented woman who loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her Husband, William, Claire Mae is survived by her four Children, William J., Jr., husband of Susan G. (Duld) Pummer, Alburtis, Terry L., husband of Julie T. (Shields) Pummer, Topton, Debra L. (Pummer), wife of Dale A. Albright, Macungie, and Timothy S., husband of Lisa V. (LaSerre) Pummer, Macungie; 7 Grandchildren, Vanessa, Krista, Nichole, Jared, Jakob, Ian and Ben; and 3 Great-Granddaughters, Devon, Lilliana and Cassidy; 3 Sisters; and a Brother. She was predeceased by her Parents; one Sister, and 3 Brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Pastor Steve DeFrain officiating. Burial will follow in Lehigh Zion Cemetery, Alburtis. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.

The family requests that contributions be made in Claire Mae’s memory to Morningstar Fellowship Church, 100 Limekiln Road, Bechtelsville, PA 19505 or Humane Society of Berks County, 1729 N. 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
