Mrs. Christina Clara Mertz

Christina C. (Kunkel) Mertz, 45, of Maidencreek Township, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.  Loving and devoted wife of Robert K. Mertz.  They were married June 17, 2011 after first meeting in 2001.   Christina was a daughter of Donald R. Kunkel, Reading, and the late Grace I. (Hein) Kunkel.

Chris was a graduate of Hamburg Area High School, Class of 1993.  She was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Company, Lyon Station. Her love for animals knew no bounds and she is survived by Eva, Malek, Macy, Elvis, and Timmy.

In addition to her husband of 9 years, Robert, Christina is survived by a daughter, Kathryn G. Mertz, at home; a step son, Robert K. Culmer, at home.  Other survivors include two sisters:  Cheryl (Kunkel), wife of Cory A. Wolf, Shoemakersville; Angela G. (Kunkel) Ney, companion of Ron D. O'Boyle, Hamburg; one brother: Donald (DJ) R. Kunkel Jr, Hamburg.  There are also three nieces: Cheyenne G. (Wolf) Miller; Cassie A. Wolf; and Amber G. Ney.  Her mother-in-Law also survives, Diane L. (Rehrig) Mertz, Kutztown.

Services for Christina will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Christina C. Mertz Memorial Fund to benefit her daughter Kathryn G. Mertz, c/o Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., PO Box 292, Kutztown, PA 19530-0292.
