Chizue Moyer, 74, of Longswamp Township, died Saturday, August 28, 2010, in her family residence where she resided with her son, Elmer J. Moyer and family. She was the widow of David P. Moyer who died June 13, 1995.
Born in Manchuria China, she was a daughter of the late Hatsuichi and Kuri (Yochidomi) Okomoto. She was a homemaker and worked as a part-time seamstress in the area. She was a member of the Japanese-American Alumni Association, Reading. Chizue was proud of her Japanese heritage and visited there throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother. She took great pride in supporting and attending extracurricular activities for her granddaughters. She loved to travel, enjoyed gardening and the colors of fall.
She is survived by Son, Elmer J. “Woody” husband of Tammy L. (Reid) Moyer, with whom she resided. Other survivors include 2 Granddaughters, Danielle K. and Courtney A. Moyer. There are a Sister, Masako wife of Tsuyoshi Twasaki, Yamaguchi, Japan; and Brothers, Mikio Okomoto, Tajimi, Japan and Sumio Okomoto, Kobe, Japan. She was predeceased by a Son, Ted P. Moyer in 1986 and a Brother Fumikuzu Okamoto.
Memorial Services are Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 8:00 PM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Inurnment in Longswamp Union Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call Thursday, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made to Berks Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, 1170 Berkshire Boulevard, Wyomissing, PA 19610. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
