Chester L Schappell

Rev. Chester L. Schappell, 79, of Topton, PA died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in Lutheran Home at Topton, Topton. He was the husband of Anna M. (Borrell) Schappell. They were married on February 26, 1949.

Born in Kutztown, PA he was the son of the late John H. and Ruth R. (Zettlemoyer) Schappell. He was a 1945 graduate of Kutztown High School and a 1980 graduate of the Victory Bible Institute, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a WWII veteran of the US Navy. He was construction laborer for various companies until his retirement 1978. He then became a pastor for several churches.

He is survived by Wife, Daughters, Jayne R. (Schappell) wife of Harold R. Flicker and Jody L. (Schappell) wife of Donald G. Wetzel, Jr., both of Topton; Sons, James S. husband of Gail R. (Carl) Schappell, Tamaqua, Chester L. husband Bonnie L. (Conrad) Schappell, Kutztown; Brothers, Ray Schappell, Allentown, Phaon B. husband of Barbara Schappell, Seneca, SC; 12 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a Sister, Gladys P. Stahler.

Funeral Services are Friday, February 8, 2008 at 10:30 AM in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown. Interment with Military Honors in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Grimsville. Friends may call Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Diakon Hospice St. John, 1030 Reed Avenue, Suite 102, Wyomissing, PA  19610. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
