Chester D. Croll, Jr.

July 3, 1964 — February 10, 2025

Mertztown, PA

Chester D. "Chet" Croll, Jr., 60, of Mertztown, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025 in Tower Health - Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA, following a work accident two weeks prior. Chet was the loving husband of Sherry D. (Miller) Croll, whom he married on September 13, 1986.

Born in Bethlehem, PA, Chet was a son of Loraine M. (Nelson) Croll, of Kutztown, and the late Chester D. Croll, Sr., who died on November 29, 2006. Chet was a 1983 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, and attended Berks County Vocational and Technical School for masonry. Following his high school graduation, Chet was employed by Electro-Space Fabricators, Topton, for 12 years. For the past 28 years, Chet was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyons, working as a production worker in the A-3 building.

Chet was a die-hard car enthusiast, especially Ford Mustangs. He was very talented and known for his car restorations. Chet completed many restorations over the years, but most recently, he was proud of restoring his 1970 Mustang Mach 1. He enjoyed always being in his garage and helping others whenever he could. He could also be found helping his son Josh with his business, Crolls Customs in Fleetwood.

Chet was also a baseball and football fan. The Miami Dolphins was his team of choice and he also coached baseball for the Longswamp Athletic Association for many years. He was a devoted husband, caring father and proud grandfather of Jack. He brought laughter and joy to every gathering, leaving cherished memories etched in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Chet's selfless decision to be an organ and tissue donor will help save the lives of many individuals.

Along with his wife of 38 years Sherry, and Mom Loraine, Chet is survived by his two sons, Josh D. Croll, fiancé of Gabby A. Bengier, and Austin C. Croll, both Mertztown; grandson, Jack Bengier; sister, Michelle L. (Croll), wife of Jason S. Hermany, Tamaqua, PA; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Chet was predeceased by his brother, Robin C. Croll, Sr.
