Charlotte L. Mengel

Charlotte L. (Madeira) Mengel, 82, formerly of Mertztown died Friday, February 6, 2026, in Reading Hospital - Tower Health, West Reading, where she was admitted from Willow Brook Nursing and Rehabilitation, Kutztown. Born in Greenwich Township, Berks County, Charlotte was a daughter of the late Harold F. and Esther (Geiger) Madeira. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Mengel, who died August 20, 2008.

Charlotte worked as a trimmer for the former Keith Knitting Mill, Mertztown; and the former JoMar, Alburtis; and the former Kutztown Shoe Factory, Kutztown.

Charlotte is survived by two sons, Michael R., husband of Jo-Lyn (Dierolf) Mengel, Topton, and Jeffrey R., husband of Christine M. (Evancho) Mengel, Breinigsville, PA. Grandchildren; Desiree N. (Mengel) wife of James Sclesky, Brittany L. (Mengel) wife of Michael Rentschler, Courtney L. Mengel, Brandon L. Mengel, and Alena M. Korp. Great-grandchildren, Raylee N., Kinsley J., Remi S., and Maxwell L. Rentschler; Corbin J., Oaklyn B., Bailey P., and Bryer A. Sclesky, and Xander Card. Other survivors include a sister, Loretta (Madeira), wife of Dennis Heffner, Kutztown; and a brother, Harold F., Jr., husband of Laurie (Getter) Madeira, Kutztown.  There is also a sister-in-law, Joanne (Lesher) widow of predeceased brother, Francis "Chuppy" Madeira, Mertztown.

A Funeral Service to Honor and Celebrate Charlotte's Life will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with The Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman, officiating. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Dryville.
