Charles W Reed

Charles W. Reed, 68, of Reading , died of natural causes on Monday, January 5, 2015. He was the widower of Katherine M. (Serpico) Reed, who died in 2005 .

Born in Schuylkill County , he was the only child of the late William and Rita (Farrell) Reed. Raised in Philadelphia, he was a graduate of St. Joseph's Prep High School and St. Joseph's University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Charles was employed by Keystone Manufacturing Corp., Philadelphia; the former Emhart Group, Reading; and Boscov's Department Store.  Charles was an avid fisherman and accomplished painter. He will be remembered by his friends and loved ones for the twinkle in his eye and the love he shared with Katherine for their 37 years of marriage .

Charles is survived by his Sons, Charles C. Reed, husband of Jeannette Reed, Souderton; and Matthew Reed, husband of Sarah Reed, Kutztown; and 3 Grandchildren .

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, with Reverend Dr. Katherine E. Brearley, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown .

The family requests contributions be made to Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Development Department, 6 Franklin Plaza, Philadelphia, PA  19102-1177 . Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
