Charles W. Loehr, 81, of Virginville Road, Kutztown, PA died Sunday, May 25, 2008 in his residence. He was the husband of Louise M. (Merritt) Loehr. They were married November 20, 1943.
Born in Warsaw, Indiana, he was a son of the late William G. and Genevieve (Wood) Loehr. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Reading for 55 years, where he was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, a member of the Board of Trustees and chairman of the building committee for the Educational building in 1968. He was a Master Electrician for Daubert Electric Company, Inc., Reading, for 24 years retiring in 1979. He was also the co-owner of Louise’s Old Things, Kutztown, for 20 years. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Charles was a 50-year member of Reading Lodge #549 F & A M, Demolay Commandery #9 and Rajah Temple Shrine where he served as President of the Reception Committee in 1971. He also belonged to the Square and Compass Club, Reading, PA.
He is survived by Wife, Daughters, Susan L. (Loehr) wife of Robert Wentzel, Allentown, PA., Judith A. (Loehr) wife of Norman Sabaka, Hanover, PA; Sister, Mary E. Strickland, Daytona Beach, FL; Brother, Robert T. Loehr, Ormond Beach, FL. In addition he is survived by Grandchildren, Tricia A. (Wentzel) wife of William Ballingall, Westfield, NJ and Mark R. Wentzel of Easton, PA, and 4 Great Grandchildren.
Memorial Services are Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 11:00 AM. from First Baptist Church, 210 South Fifth Street, Reading, PA. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church for the Memorial Fund, 210 South Fifth Street, Reading, PA 19602. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
