Charles N. Nester, 72, of Oley, formerly of Kutztown, died on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Williams) Nester, whom he married on December 15, 1963.
Born in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Noyce P. and Fern Mary (Drumheller) Nester. Charles was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, Kutztown, and was a 1962 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School. Charles was employed by Glidden Paints, working at their Reading plant for 25 years, in various capacities in the mixing and shipping departments. Most recently, Charles was a delivery driver for Colleen's Crafts and Flowers, Kutztown, for almost three years, and worked as a delivery driver for NAPA Auto Parts for over five years. He was a member of Pike Township Sportsmen's Association, Oley, and the Kutztown Fire Company. A nature lover, Charles was an avid bird watcher and had a love for the outdoors, whether it was going to the cabin or enjoying the wildlife. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast. Most of all, Charles loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who he greatly adored.
In addition to his Wife of 52 years, Barbara; Charles was the devoted father of his 4 Children, Lori A. Nester, companion of Nicci A. Leggett, Oley, Stephan C., husband of Jessica G. (Bailey) Nester, Lenhartsville, Kris A. (Nester), wife of Kevin B. Dibler, Fleetwood, and Timothy S., husband of Roxanne M. (Wagner) Nester, Mohrsville; the loving brother of Fern (Nester), wife of Kenneth Schlegel, Macungie, Richard Nester, New Berlinville, Ruth Ann (Nester), wife of John Kirschner, Fleetwood, Janet (Nester) Stein, companion of Carl Tesh, Bowers, and Donna (Nester), wife of Dennis Wanner, Fleetwood. He was also the proud Grandfather of Erica J. Felty, Tanya N. Hottenstein, Zachary B. Dibler, Jordan C. Dibler, Logan R. Nester, Mason B. Nester, Colton R. Nester, Linsey M. Nester, and Dawson S. Nester; and Great Grandfather of Makenzie R. and Aaron W. He will also be missed by his four-legged companion, Lacey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Mary Ann Hamm officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday evening, October 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
