Charles A. Spiess, 80, of Price Drive, Topton and formerly of Bradford and Montgomery Counties, died Thursday, February 23, 2006, in The Henry Health Care Center, The Lutheran Home at Topton, Topton, where he had been a resident since December 29, 2005. He was the husband of Lillian B. (Loeffler) Spiess. They were married on December 29, 1945.
Born in Kulpsville, PA (Montgomery County), he was the son of the late Charles A. and the late Lizzieann (Overholtzer) Spiess. He was a dairy farmer in Bradford County from 1970 to 1989; prior to that he worked at Martin Century Farms, Lansdale, for 13 years. He was president of Christ Lutheran Church, Kulpsville, during the 1960’s. He also held various offices at different churches from 1950 to the present. He was Treasurer of the Endless Mountains Multiple Sclerosis Association, Laceyville, PA (Bradford County). He was Scout Master for Troop #398, Souderton, for 3 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church, both of Topton.
He is survived by Wife, Son, Charles D. Spiess, Quakertown, PA (Bucks County); Brother, Harold O. Spiess, East Smithfield, PA (Bradford County); 3 Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a Daughter, Robin Lynn Spiess in 1956 and a Sister, Leona (Spiess) Linsenbigler in 2003.
Funeral Services are Monday, February 27, 2006 at 12:00 Noon in Trinity Lutheran Church, Home Avenue and Smith Street, Topton. Interment in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kulpsville. Friends may call Monday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the church.
The family requests contributions to the Endowment Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church, Home Avenue and Smith Street, Topton. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
