Catherine E. “Cass” (Shenk) Hatt, 83, of Kutztown, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Leesport, Cass was a daughter of the late Harry L. and Lovey (Engel) Shenk. Cass owned and operated the former Kemp's Hotel, Kutztown, for 10 years, and the former Duchess Lounge, Topton, for 10 years. Most recently, Cass worked as a waitress at the Airport Diner, Kutztown, for 10 years, until her retirement in 2006. Cass enjoyed arts and crafts and was an avid gardener, who loved planting trees and flowers around her home.

Cass is survived by her Children, Linda D. Heckman, Kutztown, Larry R., husband of Mary (Davies) Heckman, Kutztown, Kerry A. Heckman, Hamburg, Dale L. Heckman, Shoemakersville and Sherry A. (Hatt) Liszcz, Blandon; Sisters, Eleanor Moll, Hamburg, Shirley Miller, Alsace Manor,  Barbara Henn, Hamburg; 8 Grandchildren, Dustin Heckman, Melanie Herwig, Shannon Heckman, Shara Rauenzahn, Shawna Mengle, Alicia Shull, Jessica Dabrowski and Melisa Fink; and 5 Great-Grandchildren, Payton, Desiree, Katie, Hannah and Tanner. Cass was predeceased by 3 Sisters and 5 Brothers.

A Celebration of Cass's Life will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
