Carrie C. Guinther, 98, of formerly of Bowers and Kutztown, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, where she was admitted from The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she was a resident since August 1, 2003. She was the widow of Edwin L. Guinther who died February 1, 1982.
Born in Rockland Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Clara B. (Heffner) Hilbert. She was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Rockland Township, where she was a former member of the Sunshine Society. She was a laborer at the former Mertztown Rug Mill, Mertztown, for 10 years until her retirement in 1958. Prior to that, she was employed at the former Leiningers Hosiery Mill, Lyon Station for 5 years. She was a member of the Lyons Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Lyon Station.
She is survived by Daughter, Erma C. (Guinther) wife of Donald W. Gajewski, Kutztown; Son, John C. widower of Lois (Weinhold) Guinther, West Lawn; Daughter-In-Law, Virginia M. (Delp), Fleetwood, widow of predeceased Son, Harold L. Guinther who died in 1987. In addition, there are 10 Grandchildren, Lou Ann, Harold, Scott, Donna, Sharon, Julie, James, Edwin, Sandra and predeceased Grandson, Darryl who died in 1996; 11 Great Grandchildren, Jeromy, Adrianne, Corinne, Kyle, Brooke, Amber, Danielle, Jared, Ashley, Carly Ann and Riley; 2 Step Great Grandchildren, Alisa and Melissa; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, Anthony, Kira and Gabriel.
Funeral Services are Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 10:30 AM from New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 127 Lyons Road, Fleetwood. Interment in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the church.
