Carl F. Wuchter, 91, of Kutztown, was born on March 12, 1934, and died Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Lehigh Valley In-Patient Hospice, Allentown, PA. He was the husband of Karen J. (Wettlaufer) Wuchter and would have been married for 39 years this fall. His first wife, June M. (Fegely) Wuchter died October 25, 1980. Born in Kutztown, PA, Carl was the son of the late Frederic E. and Hilda M. (Weida) Wuchter. He was a 1952 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and a 1955 graduate of General Motors Institute of Technology, Flint, Michigan. Carl loved cars. After graduating from GMI he worked many years for Wirt Wiltrout at Kutztown Auto. In 1971 he became a partner in The Rhode Agency, Inc., Kutztown, before fully purchasing it in 1990. He went from repairing and selling everyone's cars in town to insuring them. His sons, Jeffrey and Keith continue to own and operate the insurance agency.

Carl was a pillar of the Kutztown community and member of many civic organizations for many years. He was a member of the Kutztown Lions Club since 1971 and served as President, Treasurer and Secretary with more than 25 years of perfect attendance. He received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award in 1994 and the Lions Foundation Fellowship award in 2000 and he was also a Bing Miller Fellow. He served as District 14P Governor of Lions International from 1996-1997 and held many district cabinet positions prior to that: Vice District Governor, District Hearing Chairman, District Chaplain, Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, and District Lioness Extension Chairman. He also enjoyed traveling to many Lions district, state and international conventions.

He served as President of the Kutztown Jaycees in 1962 and was a JCI Senator. He received the distinguished service award as the "Town's Outstanding Young Man" in 1963. He also received the Paul Harris Rotary Foundation Fellowship award from the Kutztown Rotary Club in 1996.

He served on the Kutztown Fire Co. Board of Directors from 1972 to 1976 and was the President of the Kutztown Fire Co. Relief Association. He was a member of Kutztown Borough Council from 1973 to 1977 and Secretary of the Kutztown Planning Commission from 1980 to 1985. He served as Secretary of the Kutztown Municipal Authority from 1979 to 2002.

He was a member of Becker's St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where he served many years on their church council and as President from 1987 to 1989 and Sunday School Superintendent from 1970 to 1980. He sang with their church choir for 35 years as well as the Kutztown Community Choir for several years.

He was a board member of the Kutztown Area Historical Society from 1984 to 1988, board member of the Kutztown Fair Association, Treasurer of the Kutztown Day Committee, member of Kutztown Chamber of Commerce, and served on the board of the Kutztown Community Library.

He was a Past Master of Huguenot Lodge No. 377 F.&A.M., Kutztown, PA, and served as a trustee, Past High Priest of Reading Chapter #152, Past Commander Demolay Commandery, Past Thrice Illustrious Master Creigh Council, Past Sovereign Constantine Conclave, 1983, served as President of the Ontelaunee Club from 1991 to 1993, President of High-Twelve, and President of the Kutztown Temple Association from 1986 to 1992.

He was a member of the 1951 and 1952 Kutztown High School Basketball State Champion teams and was named by the Associated Press as a member of the PA State Basketball first team in 1951. He was elected to the Kutztown Area High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. He was also a board member of the Kutztown Area High School Foundation.

When Carl wasn't busy serving his community, he enjoyed playing golf, both locally and on many trips to the Grand Strand. He was a member of The Old Goats at Moselem Springs Golf Club and has 3 holes-in-one to his credit. Carl will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his church, his business and his deep roots in the community that he loved.

Along with his wife Karen, Carl is survived by his two sons, Keith C., husband of Laraine (Kemp) Wuchter, Kutztown, and Jeffrey N., husband of Julie (Wagner) Wuchter, Lenhartsville; three grandchildren, Austin, husband of M (Maquetha) Wuchter, Steamboat Springs, CO, Brandon, husband of Courtney Wuchter, Kempton, and Cristin (Wuchter), wife of Sean Ferris, Fleetwood; and five great-grandchildren, Everly, Tanner, Patience, Marlowe and Grant.

In addition to his first wife, June, Carl was predeceased by his two sisters, Eleanor (Wuchter) Hunyady and Elizabeth (Wuchter) Hoffman.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Carl's life will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Becker's Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, 265 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood, with Diaconal Minister Linda Zawaski officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining Becker's Saint Peter's Church Cemetery, Fleetwood.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday evening, Aug. 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, concluding with a masonic service by Huguenot Lodge No. 377 F.&A.M., Kutztown, PA at 8:00 p.m. There will also be a viewing held on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
