Carl William Christman

Carl William Christman, 62, of Greenwich Township, died Monday, November 9, 2015 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the widower of Jane E. (Sterner) Christman who died February 27, 2010.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Carl E. and Evelyn F. (George) Christman. Mr. Christman was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Kutztown. He was employed by Kutztown University for over 20 years until his retirement, first as a custodian and most recently as a groundskeeper. Prior to that, he was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyon Station and the former Evansville Cement Co., Evansville. Mr. Christman was a member of the Kutztown Rod and Gun Club, where he served as a Vice-President on the Board of Directors. He also was a member of the Kutztown Fire Company. Carl was an avid gardener who loved going to the Kutztown Produce Auction. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and processing foods from his many successful hunts.

He is survived by Daughter, Michele L. (Christman) Kistler, fiancé of Chad “Telly” F. Oldt and widow of Richard C. Kistler, Kutztown; Son, Matthew C., husband of Patricia A. (Smith) Christman, Kutztown; Brother, Sterling C. Christman, Virginville; Aunts, Phyllis Christman and Anita Christman, both of Greenwich Twp. He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren, Remington M. Kistler, Felicia J. Oldt, Daniel R. Fegely, Abbey M. Fegely and Lucas W. Fegely; and his four-legged companion, Zippy. He was predeceased by a Sister, Carol A. Christman in 1951.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown with Reverend Jeffrey J. Butz officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Kutztown (Maxatawny Twp.) Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
