Carl W Christman

Carl W. Christman, 84, of Orwigsburg, formerly of Lenhartsville, died Friday, February 7, 2013 in Orwigsburg Center, where he had been a resident for several years. He was the widower of Jean R. (Koch) Christman, who died December 23, 2011.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Berks Co., he was a son of the late Herbert T., and Mary Alice (Kohler) Christman. Mr. Christman was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country in World War II. He was a self-employed farmer in Lenhartsville for many years. Mr. Christman was a member of Kempton Fire Company, and Strausstown Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by Daughter, Diane J. (Christman), wife of Leon G. Smith, Kutztown; Daughter-in-law, Susan L. (Reimert) Christman, Lenhartsville, widow of predeceased son, Dennis C. Christman, who died January 16, 2013; Sisters, Anita L. (Christman) widow of Edward Bastian, Wernersville, Carole A. (Christman) wife of Harry Koch, Allentown, Jannetta L. (Christman) widow of Jack Metz, Allentown; 5 Grandchildren, Troy D., husband of Kimberly (Waits) Christman, Heather L. (Christman), wife of Todd M. Gruber, Desirae C. Christman, Nathan D., husband of Lindsay N. (Freymoyer) Christman, Andrew R. Smith; 5 Great Grandchildren, Connor M. and Mason T. Gruber, Emma C. and Cole T. Christman and Logan H. Christman-Warke. Mr. Christman was predeceased by Sisters, Mary Alice Dries, Dorothy G. Phillips, and Gladys A. Bleiler; and Brothers, Paul R. Christman, Lester H. Christman, and David K. Christman.

Memorial Services are Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 7:00 PM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
