Carl N. Hosler

February 6, 1960 — August 31, 2022

With family at his bedside, Carl Hosler passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday August 31st, 2022 after a years long battle with Kidney issues.  Carl was born on Long Island in 1960.  He attended Nassau Lutheran grade school in Mineola NY and Long Island Lutheran HS in Brookville NY graduating in 1978.  He lived in Garden City through HS before moving to Baltimore MD where he attended trade school and became a programmer for AT&T.  Carl spent a few years in Mesa AZ before returning east, landing in NJ.  His last 20 years were spent in Ottsville PA programming for Merrill Lynch (Bank of America).  Carl moved to Topton PA for the last year, residing at the Lutheran Home there.

Carl was an avid train enthusiast beginning with his interest in locomotive 35 when it sat in Eisenhower Park on LI when he was about 16.  He shared his love of trains with his father Norman as both volunteered at the Black River and Western Railroad in Ringoes NJ as Conductor, Brakeman and Engineer.  While in Baltimore Carl volunteered at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum.  Carl eventually purchased a 1930 Pennsylvania RR "Doodlebug" number 4666, currently in service at the Allentown and Auburn RR.  He also purchased a 1948 ALCO RS-1 locomotive number 57 and a box car, both of which we hope will join his "bug" in Topton.

Carl leaves behind his sister Betsy Hosler of Melrose, MA, his brother David Hosler of Basking Ridge, NJ, his nephews Matthew and Daniel his niece Samantha, his step-sisters Jackie Marsolais of Florida, Michele Esselborn, step-brother Frank Marsolais, a step-niece and nephew all of Long Island NY.  Carl also leaves his large family of "train buddies".  He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Hosler Jr, and Gertrude "Katie" Zollman Hosler.

Friends and family can join us for a memorial train ride aboard the Allentown & Auburn RR in Kutztown on September 17 @ 11:00 am.  Private internment will take place in Arizona in the future.

Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., Topton, is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.ludwickfh.com
