Carl J Epting

Carl J. Epting, 75, of Mertztown, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.  He was the husband of Doris E. (Kerchner) Epting, whom he married on December 10, 1960.

Born in Virginville, he was a son of the late George S. and Sadie E. (Bauscher) Epting. Mr. Epting was a member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown. He was employed for over 20 years by the Brandywine Heights School District, Topton, working as Head Custodian at all of the school buildings until his retirement in 2006. Prior to that, he was employed by the former Rockwell International, working as a machine operator at their Reading plant.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris; Daughter, Jody A. (Epting), wife of Charlie Romig, Alburtis; Son, Joel C., husband of Melissa D. (Moyer) Epting, Blandon; Sisters, Janet (Epting) Schlegel, Joyce Epting, Doreen (Epting) Houptley; Brother, Glenn Epting; 2 Grandchildren, Alyssa R. Romig and Joshua J., husband of Tiffany A. (Rose) Epting; and 2 Great Grandchildren, Paxton J. and Blayne G. Epting.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Dr. Katherine E. Brearley officiating. Interment will follow in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Relatives and friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
