Carl D Solt

Carl D. “Solty” “Pappy” “Daddio” Solt, 60, of Mertztown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 12, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, one day after celebrating his 60th birthday. He was the loving husband of Renee R. (Romig) Sufrinko-Solt, who he married on November 16, 2011.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Earl D. and Sarah L. (Fritch) Solt. Carl was a 1974 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton. He was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyon Station, for the last eight years, working in their garage as a technician. Carl was also known as the former owner and proprietor of Gehris Quality Meats in Topton and the former Kemp's Catering in Bowers. Carl was a friend to many who always had a friendly hello and wave. He was an avid hunter and sportsman, willing and able to offer suggestions and tips. His hunting also included mushrooms and he took great pride in his own secret hunting spot. His great loves included his family, his dogs, working hard, a job well done and country music. Carl was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather who was truly a good man with a genuine and beautiful heart and will be sorely missed.

In addition to his wife, Renee of five years, Carl is survived by 3 Daughters, Laurel K. Solt, fiancé of Michael D. Mollura, Reading, Caroline J. (Solt), wife of Roy E. Foster, Lyons, and Joanna L. Solt, Mertztown; 2 Step-Daughters, Amanda L. Sufrinko, Kissimmee, FL, Annie L. Sufrinko, Palmerton; and one Grandson, Clint C. Foster. He is also survived by 2 Sisters, Lillian (Solt) Bucks and Linda (Solt) Stofflet; and 2 Brothers, Ronald Solt and Thomas Solt.

A Celebration of Carl's Life will take place on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 3:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Keith K. Rohrbach officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, February 16, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM in the funeral home.
