Carl A. Kunkel, 81, of Centre Avenue, Topton, PA, died Monday, February 28, 2005, in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, where he had been a patient since February 26 th . He was the husband of Mae B. (Biehl) Kunkel. They were married 60 years last September 23 rd .
Born in Albany Township, Berks County, PA, he was the son of the late Francis and the late Martha (Wisser) Kunkel. He was a maintenance electrician at the former Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Pottstown, from 1961 to 1980; and, at East Penn Manufacturing, Lyon Station, from 1982 until 1991. He was a 1941 graduate of Kutztown High School, Kutztown. He was a US Air Force veteran of WWII. He was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowers, where he was a former council member.
He is survived by Wife, Sons, Cedric “Rick” A. Kunkel, Mertztown, Brian L. Kunkel, Oley; Daughter, Randy S. (Kunkel) Angstadt, Lyon Station; Sisters, Violet (Kunkel) Bieber, Kutztown, Jean (Kunkel) Miller, Kutztown; 11 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services are Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 11:00 AM from Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, 19511. Interment with Military Honors in the Union Cemetery of Bowers, Bowers. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.
The family requests contributions to the Memorial Fund of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, 19511. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
