C. Nancy (Fertig) Bennett, 94, of Topton, PA, formerly of Ocala, FL; Encinitas, CA; Folsom, PA; and Northumberland, PA, died peacefully Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Herman L. Bennett, who died June 20, 2012. Her prior husband, William G. Hazeltine, died June 7, 1974. Born in Shamokin, PA, Nancy was a daughter of the late Frank W. and Helen E. (Weikel) Fertig. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Topton. Always an active member of every church she was ever a member of, Nancy participated in many church activities including singing in the choir. Her life was rooted in the Lutheran Church and in her family.
Nancy was employed as a teletypist for the former Sears, Roebuck and Company, for many years. She also worked as a medical secretary for several years.
In addition to her church activities, Nancy enjoyed golfing, sewing, reading, music, and traveling in the states and other countries. She especially loved spending time with family.
SURVIVORS: Nancy is survived by her daughter, Sharon L. Hazeltine, Wilmington, DE; granddaughter, Ashley G. Reid, Wilmington, DE, and three great granddaughters: Aamani, Arianna, and Makayla. Other survivors include a sister, Carolyn M. (Fertig) Miller, wife of The Reverend Richard A. Miller, Topton, PA, and step children Richard Bennett, Aston, PA; and Lynn Friedrichs, Glen Mills, PA. In addition to her husbands and parents, Nancy was predeceased by siblings: Evelyn Fertig; Franklin E. Fertig; H. June (Fertig) Seebold; Shirley G. (Fertig) Callender; Vera L. (Fertig) Benner; and stepson Gary Bennett.
SERVICES: Graveside services in Orchard Hills Cemetery and Memorial Park, 211 Baldwin Boulevard, Shamokin Dam, PA 17876, will be announced in the future.
CONTRIBUTIONS: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8 th Avneue, New York, NY 10001, or the Benevolent Fund of the Lutheran Home at Topton, 1 South Home Avenue, Topton, PA 19562.
