Brian R. Barrell, 64, of Rockland Township, died peacefully, surrounded by family in his home, Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He was the loving husband of Keni M. (Coffin) Barrell. They were married August 4, 1984. Born in Allentown, Brian was a son of the late Ray N. and Jean L. (Stopp) Barrell.
Brian was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Class of 1978. During Brian's high school career he played center and forward on the basketball team and in his senior year Kutztown went to the Berks County Championship. He continued his education at Kutztown University, graduating in 1982 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Brian worked in the automotive service industry, working as a service manager and service advisor for a variety of dealerships in the Berks and Lehigh County area for nearly 30 years. Following his retirement from the automotive sector Brian worked for the Berks County Intermediate Unit and Kutztown School District providing transportation services for students.
Brian was a member of the Rockland Township Zoning Board; he was also caretaker of Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown; He was treasurer of Kutztown Fire Company, Kutztown; and he was assistant coach of Brandywine Heights High School Basketball.
In addition to his wife of nearly 40 years, Keni, Brian is survived by a son Adam B. husband of, Jennifer R. (Bergeron) Barrell, Hudson, MA; daughter, Kara L. Barrell, Mertztown; Hallie A. Barrell, wife of Gabriel D. Davenport, Lyon Station. Other survivors include three grandchildren: Jackson A. Barrell; Colin R. Barrell; and Eden P. J. Davenport. There is also a sister, Lori A. (Barrell) widow of Raymond E. Baycar, Allentown. In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by a sister, Pamela A. (Barrell) Heid.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Brian's life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Martin A. Milne, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday evening, August 30, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. both times in the funeral home. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
