Bonita L. "Bonnie" (George) Lesher, 71, of Topton, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of James D. "Jimmy" Lesher who died on March 22, 2014 and whom she married on April 28, 1973.
Born in Allentown, Bonnie was a daughter of the late Robert A. and Anna E. (Manmiller) George and was a 1970 graduate of Emmaus High School. She later completed her Medical Transcriptionist Certificate. For over 30 years, Bonnie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at The Lutheran Home at Topton, caring for many residents over the years. Prior to her time at the Lutheran Home, Bonnie worked briefly at the former Caloric Corporation in Topton, as well as the Howard Johnson Hotel Restaurant. Most recently, Bonnie was employed by The Brandywine Heights Area School District, working as a Paraprofessional for several years.
Bonnie was a member of Longswamp United Church of Christ and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, camping and attending local PA Dutch classes with her sister Eileen. She was a loving wife, mother and sister who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Andrew D., husband of MaryAnn (Kostenbader) Lesher, Macungie; four grandchildren, Zachary J. Lesher, Joshua R. Lesher, Spencer W. Lesher, and Allie H. Lesher; sister, Eileen L. (George), wife of Donald C. Savidge, Alburtis; and brother, Rickey W., husband of Vickie L. (Harrison) George, Mertztown. Along with her husband and parents, Bonnie was predeceased by her son, Jonathan R. Lesher on October 21, 2018; and her brother, David A. George on May 15, 2023.
A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor Bonnie's life will be held on Monday evening, January 29, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Kimberly Berenotto officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown.
The family requests contributions be made in Bonnie's memory to Friends of Brandywine, P.O. Box 85, Mertztown, PA 19539-0085 in honor of her love for helping children in the Brandywine Heights Area School District.
