Beverly J. (Rothermel) Long, 72, of Mertztown, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025 in the arms and hearts of her three daughters after a long fought battle with Lewy body dementia. Born in Allentown, Beverly was a daughter of the late Herbert Rothermel and Beatrice (Noss) Reppert.
Bev is survived by her husband, Timothy Long, whom she married in 2000; three daughters, Cheryl Heintz, wife of Henry, Perkiomenville, Angel Ritter, wife of Larry, Boyertown, and Pamela Zeall, wife of Jim, Douglassville; four grandchildren, Roy Sheeler, Jr., Charis Hopple, Mitchel Ritter and Brooke Zeall; five great-grandchildren, Sophie Sheeler, Jared Sheeler, Allison Sheeler, Kambri Brzenk, and Prezlie Hopple; siblings, Brenda Ray, Sinking Spring, Carol Smith, wife of Robert, Green Lane, Kathy Rothermel, New Tripoli, Charles Rothermel, Kutztown, David Rothermel, Lenhartsville, and Debbie Redcay, Fleetwood. Along with her parents, Beverly was predeceased by two brothers, Bruce Rothermel and Jeffrey Greenawalt.
Her family was of the utmost importance to her. Her passion was to spend as much time as possible with her family and taking trips to the beach. She loved going antique shopping, crafting, gardening, mowing grass and dancing to George Jones and Randy Travis. She was also a lifetime member of Liberty Fire Co., New Berlinville, PA, and was a dedicated member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown.
A memorial service to celebrate and honor Beverly's life will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA, with her Pastor, The Reverend Kimberly Berenotto and The Rev. Michael Sullivan, Chaplain of Caring Hospice Services at Chestnut Knoll, co-officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with her family from 2:30 to 4:15 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown.
