Betty L. Stump

Betty L. (Heffner) Stump, 85, of Emmaus, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where she was a patient since Christmas Day. She was the widow of Roger S. Stump, who died on December 4, 1992, and the long-time companion of Ron Kaspern. Born in Allentown, Betty was a daughter of the late Percy P. and Verna (Mest) Heffner. Mrs. Stump was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Fleetwood. Betty worked for the former Royal Manufacturing, Alburtis for 17 years, and the former Emmaus Shirt Factory, Emmaus, for 17 years, until her retirement. After her retirement, Betty was a nanny and babysitter for 14 years. She was a member of the Emmaus and Alburtis Senior Citizens. Betty enjoyed baking, crocheting and gardening. In her younger years, Betty and her husband enjoyed traveling the east coast on their motorcycle.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sheila A. (Stump) Long, companion of Phil Litschke, Emmaus; sons, Kevin R., husband of Karen M. (Lucas) Stump, East Texas, Steve I., husband of Michelle (Vanderslice) Stump, Oley; sister, Faye (Heffner) Barto, Macungie; brothers, Carl Heffner, Allentown, and Paul Heffner, Kutztown; four grandchildren, Tyler Stump, Jackie Kline, Stacy Romberger and Tara Bock; four step- grandchildren, Andy Scott, Nicole Scott, Emily Yordt and Ben Scott; five great-grandchildren, Justin, Anthony, Jacob, Willow and Riley; and three step-great grandchildren, Korbin, Parker and Brielle. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by her two sisters, Jean (Heffner) Miller and Goldie (Heffner) Carl; and a brother, Lee Heffner.

A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 27 Lyons Road, Fleetwood (Rockland Township) with Reverend Ruth F. Doty officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining New Jerusalem Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
