Betty L. Hertzog

August 7, 1931 — September 30, 2023

Betty L. (Epting) Hertzog, 92, formerly of Mertztown, died peacefully Saturday, September 30, 2023, in The Lutheran Home at Topton, Longswamp Township, where she recently was a guest.  Born in Allentown, Betty was a daughter of the late Luther T. and Elsie L. (Younger) Epting.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton.

Betty was employed by the Brandywine Heights Area School District, first as a cook in the Middle School, then as the Head Cook at the High School, until her retirement in 1994.

Betty enjoyed crocheting, looking and playing games on her tablet, watching the Phillies and Uncle Jeffrey, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children: David C., husband of Joanne S. (Strotbeck) Hertzog, Mohnton; Lynn A., husband of Lori L. (Rhodes) Hertzog, Fleetwood; Karen D. (Hertzog), wife of Scott A. Yenser, Topton; Glenn A., husband of Darlene F. (Ohlrich) Hertzog, Fleetwood; and Kris A. (Hertzog) Grow, Fleetwood.  Other survivors include eight grandchildren: Holly (Hertzog) Rutt; Kyle Hertzog; Courey Hertzog; Collin Hertzog; Marci (Yenser) Wozniak; Brandon Yenser; Dustin Grow and Devin Grow; 14 great grandchildren: Brielle; Christian; Kalen; Sydney; Ignatius; Hannah; Olivia; Caitlin; Beckett; Machlan; Jetsen; Brody; Vivienne; and Daxton; and two great-great grandchildren: Sawyer and Ayla.  There are also two sisters: Patricia C. A. (Epting), widow of Carlton Andrews, Macungie; and Kay R. (Epting), wife of Dennis Evans, Topton; and two brothers: Leonard L., husband of Karen (Gambler) Epting, Mertztown; and Barry L., husband of Barbara (Burger) Epting, Topton.  In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by a sister, Doris L. (Epting) Stevens.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate and Honor Betty's life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 121 S. Home Avenue, Topton, with The Reverend Arthur L. Hahn, officiating.  Inurnment in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
