Betty G. (Solt) Geist, 88, of Topton, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Paul C. Geist, who died on July 4, 2001.

Born in Shoetown, Longswamp Township, Betty was a daughter of the late Manassas and Annie (Hess) Solt. Mrs. Geist was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton. She was employed by Brandywine Heights Area School District, working as a cafeteria worker and cook in the high school and middle school, proudly making lunches and desserts for 1000’s of students in her 44 years, until her retirement in 2012. Betty was an avid quilter and loved to crochet. She would caringly gift her quilts and afghans to family members and friends on their wedding day as well as holiday and birthday gifts. She was also known for her famous cut-out cookies, cheese cake and homemade pot pie & noodle soup.

Betty is survived by her 3 Children, Larry P., husband of Lois A. (Kemp) Geist, Fleetwood, Dale R., husband of Brenda G. (Buch) Geist, Mertztown, and Beverly A. (Geist), wife of Lyle C. Riegel, Kempton; 8 Grandchildren, Cora (Haring) Young, Jennifer (Geist) Fenstermaker, Devin Geist, Stacey (Geist) Knepp, Trisha (Geist) Bickel, Heather (Riegel) Kline, Katie (Riegel) Schnabl, and Erin (Riegel) Dietrich; and 10 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by a Sister, Bonnie Solt and a Brother, Paul Solt, both of Mertztown. She was predeceased by her Husband; Parents; and 4 Brothers Edwin, Floyd, Russell, and Lee Solt.

Graveside services and inurnment will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM in Topton Union Cemetery, 6 N. Callowhill Street, Topton. There are no calling hours.

The family requests contributions be made in Betty’s memory to the Topton Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, P.O. Box 8, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
