Benneville S Burkert

Benneville S. Burkert, 83, of Maidencreek Township, died Friday, July 23, 2010, in his home. He was the husband of Arlene M. (Mest) Burkert. They were married August 2, 1948.

Born in Blandon, he was a son of the late Floyd L. and Alice (Schmeck) Burkert. He was a member of Maidencreek Church, Blandon. He honorably served his Country during World War II as an Aviation Machinist Mate Third Class, in the US Navy Air Force. He was a member of Teamster Union 429, Reading. He also previously held a private pilot’s license. He worked as a truck driver, first for the former Shirk Motors, Reading, then the former Norwalk Trucking, Reading, and finally the former AAA Trucking, Reading until his retirement in 1982.

He is survived by Wife, Daughter, Benita L. (Burkert) Boyer, Ashburn, VA; and Sons, Barry L. husband of Lori S. (Focht) Burkert, Fleetwood and Eric R. husband of Tracy A. (Mengel) Burkert, Richmond Township. There is also a twin Brother, Robert H. Burkert, Fleetwood, and Brothers, Lee F. widower of Esther Burkert, Mount Holly, NJ and William wife of Marie Burkert, Conway, SC. In addition he is survived by Grandchildren, Resica D. (Boyer) wife of J. Scott Cecil, Lexington, NC, Wendy M. (Burkert) wife of Sabin A. Neuheimer, Durham, NC, Amy D. (Burkert) Bellis, Burlington, Washington and Jarrad R. husband of Kara-un-nisa (Taylor) Burkert, Molltown; and 7 Great Grandchildren, Emilia M. Bellis, Marabelle T. Burkert, Lauren E. Cecil, Eden A. Neuheimer, Teagan M. Cecil, Ava M. Neuheimer and Tristan W. Neuheimer.

Funeral Services are Thursday, July 29, 2010, 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment with Military Honors provided by Ray A. Master, Post 217, American Legion, Topton, Honor Guard in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. Friends may call Wednesday, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
