Mrs. Arlene M. Younger

Arlene M. (Geiger) Younger, 86, formerly of Mertztown, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Robert R. Younger, Jr., who died July 11, 2018, and whom she married January 25, 1958.

Born in Allentown, Arlene was a daughter of the late Paul and Elda (Geist) Geiger. She was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowers and was employed as a Kitchen Worker by The Lutheran Home at Topton for over 25 years until her retirement in 2000.

Arlene was a member of Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Topton, and loved her plants and gardening. She enjoyed going to the local fairs and carnivals to listen to music.

Arlene is survived by her daughters, Sheila Y. (Younger), wife of Donald R. Watkins, Carlsbad, CA, and Denett L. (Younger), wife of Lee A. Smith, Mertztown; sons, Robert R. Younger, III, Lincoln, CA, and Rodney S. Younger, Sacramento, CA; three grandchildren, Andrew L., husband of Michelle (Clark) Smith, Ashley A. (Smith), wife of Scott E. Leinbach, Jr., and Samantha Watkins; four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Victoria Estrada, and Elizabeth and Bentley Leinbach; and siblings, Lillian Showalter, Raymond Geiger, Ralph Geiger, Mary Hoffman and Pauline Marks.

In addition to her husband and parents, Arlene was predeceased by a granddaughter, Heather M. Smith; and two brothers, Jesse Geiger and Henry Geiger.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Arlene's life will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, with The Reverend Dr. Colleen G. Kristula, Chaplain at The Lutheran Home at Topton, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery of Bowers. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
