Ann D Schneider

Ann D. Schneider, 74, of Kutztown, died in Minnesota on Friday, April 22nd, 2011. She was married for 46 yrs to the love of her life, the late Frank M. Schneider. She lived her life till the last minute doing what she loved: traveling and spending time with family and her dearest friend. She was blessed with an enormous loving heart which she generously shared. She was a graduate of St. John’s Long Island School of Nursing - Class of 1957. She was an esteemed member of the 3rd Floor Crew. She applied her nursing skills from the ER and Day Surgical Center to her home clinic. She professionally practiced at St. John’s Hospital Elmhurst, NY, and LVHC Allentown, PA. Her life- long love of and commitment to learning was her mantra. Her passion was reading. She could often be found with her nose in a book, her ears tuned to an audio book, or on a library run. Her heaven on Earth was reading camped on the beach under an umbrella. She will be remembered for her eloquent expressions and self-determined style. Her compassion, selflessness, and quiet strength touched many people.

Born September 27th, 1936 in Germantown, Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. Dolan and Dorothy (McQuaid) Dolan. Upon the untimely death of her mother, she was raised by her Aunt and Uncle, the late Matthew and Kate McCartin. She was “Aunt Pidge” to her many treasured nieces and nephews. She was an active member of the 3rd Floor Crew Alumni Association. She was a founding member of the Birthday Club, a faithful participant in Tuesday’s Aqua Aerobics, an active member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown, PA, a member of the Renew group, Faith and Justice Committee and the Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by Son, Francis M. Schneider, husband of Maria Elizabeth Baca of New York City/Mexico City; Son, Stephen J. Schneider, husband of Meryl J. (Edelheit) Schneider of New Smithville; Daughter, Catherine M. Schneider, wife of John V. Konopelski of Yorkville, IL; Daughter, Ann Jessica (Schneider), wife of W. Barry Wexler of Macungie; Son, Paul A. Schneider of Hong Kong; Grandchildren, Stephanie J. Schneider, Rachel A. Schneider, Jennifer M. Schneider, Michael S. Schneider, MaryKathryn Wexler, Madison Ann Wexler, Matthew J. Konopelski, and Daniel F. Konopelski; Brother, John P. “Jack” Dolan of Piscataway, NJ; Sister, G. “Dutch” Bryan of Minnetonka, MN; Lifelong Friend, Marilyn Crisham, Lake Ronkonkama, NY; and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by Sisters, Patricia Dolan of Philadelphia, Aileen McKenney of Stines Corner, PA; and Ann (McCartin) Metz of Huntington, NY; and Brothers, Larry McCartin of Bellmore,NY and Matthew McCartin of Rockville, MD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown. Friends may call Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the church.

The family requests contributions to the Memorial Fund of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
