Althea E Schaeffer

Althea E. Schaeffer, 83, of Topton, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she was a patient since February 17, 2012. She was the wife of Dallas S. Schaeffer, whom she married November 19, 1949.

Born in Topton, she was a daughter of the late Paul N and Mamie L. (Peters) Heiser. She was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Fleetwood. Mrs. Schaeffer worked as the manager of the Village Square Drycleaners, Kutztown for many years, until her retirement. She also worked as a telephone operator in Topton for the former Conestoga Telephone Company. Mrs. Schaeffer was also a House Mother at the Lutheran Orphanage, Topton, now The Lutheran Home at Topton. She, along with her husband was a member of the Antique Engine, Tractor and Toy Club.

She is survived by Husband, Daughters, Kim S. (Schaeffer) wife of Russel M. Pilgert, Kempton, Tina A. (Schaeffer) wife of Thomas B. Haney, Harleysville; Grandchildren, Thomas R. husband of Stacy C. (Metzger) Pilgert, Nicole L. (Pilgert) wife of Jason T. Zimmerman, and Katelyn R. Haney. There are also 4 Great Grandchildren, Eli J. and Brady J. Zimmerman and Ethan T. and Mallory E. Pilgert.

Funeral Services are Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10:30 AM in Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made to the memorial fund of the church. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
