Mrs. Althea C. Moyer

Althea C. (DeLong) Moyer, 97, formerly of Kutztown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall, where she had been a resident for one year. She was the widow of William A. Moyer who died on April 2, 2008 and whom she married on February 28, 1948.

Born in Bowers, PA, Althea was a daughter of the Wilbur A. and Ella M. (Sechler) DeLong. She was a member of Zion's Union Church of Maxatawny where she was part of the prayer shawl ministry, crocheting many gifts for those in need. Althea spent most of her life as a homemaker and housewife, taking care of her home, a place where she preferred to spend her time. In addition to crocheting, Althea enjoyed cross-word puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune.

Althea is survived by a daughter, Diane S. (Moyer), wife of David W. Herber, and son, Timothy J., husband of Dawn H. (Assed) Moyer, both of Kutztown; five grandchildren, Tamara S. (Herber), wife of Gregory Marushak, Amanda S. Herber, fiancé of Terry Essig, Alex J., husband of Anna (Hoppes) Moyer, Stacey L. (Moyer), wife of Christopher Billig and Stephanie L. (Moyer), wife of Jonathan Pyne; eight great-grandchildren, Abigail, John, Owen, Jonah, Chase, Kaden, Cassilynn and Topher; and one great-great granddaughter, Aurora.

In addition to her husband and parents, Althea was predeceased by her two sisters, Marie Fritch and Jean Greiss and a brother, Carl DeLong.

A graveside service to celebrate and honor Althea's life and burial will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, 329 Church Road, Kutztown (Maxatawny), PA, with The Reverend Jeffrey J. Butz officiating.
