Mrs. Althea C. Moyer

Althea C. (Brensinger) Moyer, 80 years old, a resident of Luther Meadows, Topton, and formerly of Alburtis, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Herman M. Trate, Sr., who died February 16, 1986.

Born in Mertztown, Althea was a daughter of the late Amandus and Arlene (Roth) Brensinger. She worked as an Assembler for the former Caloric Corporation, Topton for 25 years until the closure of the plant. She enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and board games with her family and friends. She also loved country music and the sounds of George Jones, and watching Uncle Jeffrey on television.

Althea is survived by her children, Peach (Moyer), wife of Mark Mazy, Middleburg, FL, Sheila (Trate), widow of Mitchell Ohmacht, Kutztown, Penny (Trate) Kalmar, Alburtis, George, husband of Karlene Trate, Alburtis and Cathy Trate, Alburtis; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Linda (Brensinger) Stettler, Alburtis and her sister-in-law, Linda Brensinger, Boyertown, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Althea was predeceased by her children, Herman Trate, Jr., Dale Moyer, Paul and Jimmy Trate; and siblings, Jean Schrettner, Charles Brensinger, Herbert Brensinger, Jackson Brensinger, Ernest “Smokey” Brensinger, Russell “Gabby” Brensinger and Kermit Brensinger.

A graveside funeral service to celebrate Althea’s life and burial will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Longswamp Union Cemetery, State Street, Mertztown, with Reverend Arthur L. Hahn officiating.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Uncle Jeffrey’s TV station, CWTAP, PO Box 275, Old Zionsville, PA 18068-0275 in honor of Althea’s love and support for his show.
