Alma M Rhoads

Alma M. (Stephen) Rhoads, 98, of Mertztown, died on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown, where she was a resident for one month. She was the widow of Paul H. Rhoads who died on February 4, 1980.

Born in Lehigh County, she was a daughter of the late Harvey E. and Alice R. (Miller) Stephen. Mrs. Rhoads was a member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown. She was employed as a sewing machine operator by the former Royal Manufacturing, Alburtis, for over 30 years until her retirement.

Alma is survived by a Niece, Carol (Rhoads) wife of Bruce Schaeffer, Fleetwood; Caregivers, Chris L. and Doris J. (Witwer) Haas, Mertztown. Alma enjoyed spending time with Chris and Doris' grandchildren and great grandchildren, as if they were her own. Alma was predeceased by a Sister, Edna A. (Stephen) Gehris.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Reverend Dr. Katherine E. Brearley officiating. Interment will follow in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
