Allen R. Haring, 85, of Kutztown, died on July 22, 2023, surrounded by his family. Allen was the husband of Joan Haring for almost 66 years. Allen was born in Lyon Station, to the late Emma and Chester Haring, Jr.
Allen was a 1956 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and illustrated the class yearbook. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and chose the aviation radar repair course. Allen was stationed with the 11 th Air Group in Atsugi, Japan.
Allen started his work career at Western Electric, Allentown, specializing in the manufacturing of semiconductors. He was awarded a U.S. Patent for his invention of a method to uniformly plate multiple contact areas supported by a ceramic base. Allen was a dedicated ham radio operator, a skilled woodworker and loved to take photographs. He had a knack to snap great photos of youth and their animals at the Kutztown Fair and many scenes throughout Berks County. Allen served on the Maxatawny Township Planning Commission, and on the boards of directors of the Kutztown Fair Association and the Keith Haring Foundation.
Allen is survived by his daughters, Kay (Tom Wessner), Karen (Scott DeLong), and Kristen (Roger Magoulas). He also has four grandchildren, Lana (Tanner Spaulding), Jenna, Seth and partner Victoria, and Rachel; as well as four great grandchildren, Harlow, Mitchell Allen, Keith, and Violet. Allen is also survived by siblings: Cora Ellen, Suzanne, Timothy, Sidney, Christopher, and Deborah. Predeceased siblings are, Denton, Neil, Joe, Mike, and Mandy. And son Keith.
