Alice C. Schneider, 68, of Rockland Township, passed away in her sleep on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, after a courageous battle with cancer. Alice was the loving and devoted wife of Allan H. Steinfeld. They were married on May 17, 1987.
Born in Geneva, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William and Dorothy Marie (Hamilton) Schneider. Alice received a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, OH; and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Development from Columbia University, New York, NY. Alice first worked as a buyer for J.C. Penney Department Stores, in New York; but found a passion for computers and data as she forged a career at the fledgling organization New York Road Runners, organizers of the New York City Marathon. She was with them for over 26 years as the Information Technology Director. Alice retired in 2004. Also, an artist, Alice enjoyed making pottery. She spent countless hours volunteering her time and efforts to One-by-One no-kill Cat Shelter, Kutztown. Alice was also a student of Svaroopa Yoga for 15+ years. She took her practice to deep levels. Alice was consistent to Sunday Morning class and weekly private sessions with her husband Allen, until just a few months ago. Alice was loved by so many, and her sweetness will continue to be bestowed upon all of us.
In addition to her Husband of 29 years, Allan, Alice is survived by Sisters, Ann R. (Schneider), wife of Alan A. Forist, Kalamazoo, Michigan and Ellen L. (Schneider), wife of Henry N. Russell, Grosselle, Michigan; a Brother, David Schneider, Anderson South Carolina. Other survivors include nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
The family will host a celebration to honor Alice's life on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at The Restaurant at Golden Oaks, 10 Stonehedge Drive, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends may begin arriving at 12:30 PM, followed by a meal and service at 1:00 PM.
