Alfred D. "Junior" "Roadie" Roth, Jr., 92, of Kutztown, formerly of Bowers, died peacefully, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in Willow Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Kutztown. He was the widower of Shirley J. (Gable) Roth, who died December 27, 2012. Born in Maxatawny Township, Alfred was a son of the late Alfred E., Sr., and Mabel H. (Ohlinger) Roth. He was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowers. He served on the council for many years, including several terms as president.
'Roadie' was employed as a truck driver for Wayne Wessner Grain, Kutztown, until his retirement. Prior, he worked as a truck driver for Schaefer Brewery, Fogelsville; and Marsteller Grain and Farms, Trexlertown.
'Junior' was an active and dedicated member, past president and board director for many years of the Kutztown Rod and Gun Club, Kutztown; he was also a member of Pike Township Sportmen's Association, . He was a member of The Antique Engine, Tractor and Toy Club, Kutztown. He also, was very interested in trains, he especially loved Lionel trains and was excited to show his collection. He was a member of the Union Cemetery of Bowers, Board of Directors, where he served as president for many years. 'Roadie' never missed the races at Kutztown Fairgrounds or an auction at Clarence Shirk Auctions, Kutztown.
Alfred is survived by his four children: Karen S. (Roth), widow of Richard Raifsnider, Williamsport, Lycoming County; Kay E. (Roth), husband of Glen C. Frederick, Fleetwood; Alfred "Butch" K., III, husband of Sally J. (George) Roth, Fleetwood; and Donna L. (Roth), wife of Stephen L. Hurt, Dry Ridge, KY. Other survivors include a sister, Dolores (Roth), widow of Warren Musser, Lyon Station. There are seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Alfred's life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, with The Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman, officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery of Bowers. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. in the church.
