Alfred G Grim

Alfred G. Grim, 81, of Bowers died Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Rachel M. (Walbert) Grim. They were married January 24, 1953.

Born in Maxatawny Township, he was a son of the late George A. and Lulu M. (Zwoyer) Grim. He was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers where he served as an elder and a deacon for five years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. Alfred was a 1947 graduate of Kutztown High School, and a 1948 graduate of the former Allentown Business College with a degree in business. He was employed as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance, Co., Kutztown for 30 years retiring in 1988. Prior to that, he was a general maintenance and office worker at the former Grim’s Motor Co., Topton, for 10 years. He was a partner and builder of the Topton car wash in 1966. Alfred was charter member and past president of Topton Jaycees in the 1960’s. He was a charter member, past president, and financial secretary of the Bower’s Lions Club in the 1970’s. He served in the honor guard of the Ray A. Master American legion, Post #217, Topton.

He is survived by Wife, Daughter, Rosanne M. (Grim) wife of Raymond O. Kegerise, Mertztown; Sons, Gary G. Grim, Bowers, William E. Grim, Brigantine, NJ; Sister, Marie M. (Grim) widow of Francis Mertz, Kutztown; Brother, David D. husband of Shirley R. (Trollinger) Grim, Bowers. He is also survived by Grandchildren, Cory R., Ryan E., and Melanie A. Kegerise.

Memorial Services are Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:30 AM in Christ (DeLong) United Church of Chirst, 63 Old Bowers Road, Bowers. Inurnment with military honors will be private in Union Cemetery of Bowers. There are no calling hours.

The family requests contributions be made to Christ (DeLong) United Church of Chirst, P.O. Box 99, Bowers, PA 19511. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
